Youth Project
The ‘Rukiga Youth in Development’ programme was founded in 2016 by CLICKRukiga working closely with our Ugandan friends Hillary and Precious Turyakira to provide valuable training opportunities for local young people.
The ‘Rukiga Youth in Development’ programme allows the local youth to acquire skills in sewing, knitting, weaving and computing. The project also accommodates children during the school holidays for computing lessons.
We hope to continue to support this project through our fundraising and kind donations from supporters over the coming months.
10 years later! - 2026 Update:
The RYID project now has a brand new building for their activities with dedicated rooms for each subject area, thanks to your support at our fundraising events over the last few years.
The courses offered have also expanded with barbering, sewing, knitting, weaving, mechanics and computing now having dedicated teachers to support with the education. They are hoping to expand their services to support youth with mental health and wellbeing witha dedicated space in the new building and provide the local comunity with a library and computer access at a fee to make their further work independantly sustainable..
CLICKRukiga has been able to continue to help Hillary and Precious Turyakira to provide valuable training opportunities for local young people and we hope to continue to support this project through our fundraising and kind donations from supporters over the coming months.
