2014

Ickenham festival Sponsored Bike Ride to Rukiga 

June 8th 

At 2.30pm a group of cyclists set off from outside Bikewise in Ickenham, along a four mile route which took the cyclists along Rectory Way, Tile Kiln Lane, Glebe Avenue and Austins Lane, finishing back in Ickenham.

There were more than 40 cyclists which also included children.  The weather was favourable and great fun was had by all who took part in the event.  A total of over £1000 was raised for CLICK Rukiga.

A Mens breakfast was held at St Giles Church early, one morning in June.

The event helped raise £40 for CLICK Rukiga.

 

A presentation was made by the people who visited Rukiga in February.  An Auction at the event helped to raise £230.

 

2013

Christmas Fayre at St Giles Ickenham raised just over £1000 for Rukiga that being 50% of their total. An excellent result

The photo shoot kindly organised by Ken Tombs raised £226 and families were very pleased with their photos. Ken is a first class photographer with considerable experience so we were very lucky to have him with us. 

The Carol Singing at Uxbridge Underground Station on 12th December raised £490.76.  We are grateful to all those who made a donation.

The Talent For Africa talent show in October raised £840. It proved to be a most successful evening with an obvious display of varying talents. We would like to think all the participants.

 

London to Paris cycle ride 

19-21 July 

Very warm congratulations to Stephen Rutherdale who cycled from the Uganda High Commission in Trafalgar Square to the Uganda Commission in Paris in 2 days. He collected the great total of £2000 in sponsorship money.

Another very enjoyable evening was held in July at Birothi's Indian Restaurant in Swakeleys Road. Once again the manager and staff did us proud with an excellent meal served so graciously.

​

On the afternoon of 17 June, the rain managed to hold off & even glimpses of sunshine appeared. We had a most enjoyable time in the garden of St Giles'Rectory for an afternoon tea, cakes and music. The event raised £349.20 

As part of the Ickenham Festival, the donations from the St Giles' Church Flower Festival were given for Rukiga. These totalled £150.

Najla a  member of our community, kindly donated proceeds collected at her open garden event. This raised an excellent £302.93 which goes to show how lovely her garden must have been!

A further £80 was raised through donations given at the Arts, Crafts & Hobbies exhibition at the U.R.C. during the Ickenham Festival Week.

2011

In this year we raised the excellent total of £11,432.  Some of this has enabled us to support various projects within Kamweze School and QUID.

The recent sponsored bike ride in September raised the excellent total of £385. We acknowledge with gratitude that of this amount, Breakspear School raised £200.

 The owners of Borothi Restaurant in Ickenham kindly allowed us to book the whole of their restaurant on the evening of Tuesday 26 April to help raise funds. This is an excellent Indian restaurant. We had a delicious two course meal served in their normal gracious way as well as live music. £666 was raised by the sale of tickets and a raffle held on the evening. We would like to express out thanks to all the team at Borothi for their kindness, the excellent food and their professionalism.

 We are very pleased to tell you that Mr Steve Clegg  ran the London Marathon to raise money for one of our 4 projects, the Kamwezi Parent's School. Please see the link on www.justgiving.com/steven-clegg0 

We are very grateful to him and understand he has raised in the region of £4000! Wonderful achievement, well done Steve.

Another successful event was the car wash on Saturday 9 April 2011. Several pupils from Vyners School very kindly got out of bed early and gave up their Saturday morning to wash cars. They did a splendid job and raised £1642.10.

A total of £2,486.51 has been raised through the Concert for Uganda, the sponsored bike ride, the Ickenham Festival Gala Day donations, the donations from the U.R.C. Arts and crafts exhibition, the car wash and a donation from Glebe school.

2010

 The sponsored bicycle ride was held on Sunday 20 June 2010 as part of the Ickenham festival, many from the community joining in and having fun.

As part of the Ickenham Festival,  a CONCERT FOR UGANDA was given by the Hillingdon Music Service at the Compass Theatre Ickenham on Saturday 12 June 2010 7.30pm. Again another successful and enjoyable event.

 We took part in the Christmas Tree Festival at St Giles Church Ickenham 11-12 December. On the Saturday we held a silent auction at the St. Giles Christmas Fayre to raise money.  

 

2009

Carol singing. Tired commuters arriving at Uxbridge Station were treated to the melodic voices of those singing and gave generously to help our funds.

In October, we held a photographic competition on the theme of 'water'. Thanks to all those who took part. We were able to raise £207. The winning adult entries were, Sean Kelly and Roy Vollrath and the childrens section,Nicos Tombros.  Thanks to Birothi Restaurant and Chaplin's Restaurant in Ickenham and The Entertainer Toy Shop in Uxbridge who provided the prizes. 

 We have received £174 from a group of year 6 pupils at Glebe School in Ickenham. In business lessons they had been copying "The Apprentice" programme. Eight pupils had sold Easter Eggs and made this profit. Well done to these entrepreneurial students! 

Our Charity car-wash was held on the forecourt of Ickenham United Reformed Church (Swakeleys Road) on Saturday 20 June 2009. It was well supported. Both those able and unable to attend have asked for this to be done again. This raised £250

 In March of this year the following concert of African and British music was a sell out and proved to be a very enjoyable and successful concert. The profit was around £1,432. A £4K cheque was presented to World Vision by the Mayor during the interval.

The concert featured Seby Lubwama Neige & his Ugandan Music Group as well as  The Hilingdon Music service brass band and jazz orchestra.

2008

Christmas Tree Festival & card sales raised £1,027

Piano Recital Friday 17 October raised approx. £700.  Proceeds divided between Click Rukiga and Harlington Hospice.

Sponsored Walk  June 2008 raised over £100.

Art Auction May 2008 raised £1,487

We are delighted to report that the total raised for Rukiga is now over £30,000 with an additional £6,000 donated by British Airways to help with transport costs.

Of course this amount will achieve much more in Uganda than it would here. We are very grateful to all who have supported this project either by direct giving or by giving their time to help in fund raising. 

We recognise too the generosity of those who sponsor a child often for some years.

 We are registered to Missionfish (eBay's fundraising site) but are awaiting help to organise this 

 We would like to raise enough money to purchase computer equipment for both here and there so we might set up video conferencing. This would enable us to communicate much more effectively and would be exciting for adults and children alike. This would really bring alive our 'community to community link.
